Blind Flutist,
2001
Oil on Canvas, 48 x 36 inches |

This beautiful painting
makes use of vibrant color and symbolism to show that we have
ways of experiencing the world through other means than those
that are immediately obvious. The main subject of the work,
a blind musician plays a flute, and through this, the painting
demonstrates the perception of the world. Although she can never
see the beauty of nature, her music enables to touch it in her
own way. This painting is filled with vitality and rhythm, with
the bold treble clef overlaying the whole piece, and with a
jumble of multihued notes dancing in the background. The musical
notes echo in the nature. The unseen beauty of nature is symbolically
represented as a black musical note. The colors of nature compose
this whole piece, with the green of summer forests and the blue
of a sunny day’s sky. |
